Plymouth Conservatives are pleased to announce the selection of Colin Wells as the Conservative candidate for Peverell Ward in the upcoming local elections in May 2026.

Colin is a proud Plymothian who spent his first 18 years growing up in Peverell, attending Montpelier Infants and Junior School before progressing to Devonport High School for Boys after passing the 11+. He later moved to London to study for a Music Degree, where he settled, met his wife Karen, and together raised their daughter Grace, now 13.

Alongside his passion for music, Colin trained as a lawyer, obtaining a PGDip and developing a career spanning more than 25 years. He has served as both a department head and partner before taking the major step of founding his own legal practice in 2018.

In 2022, Colin and his family returned to Plymouth to be closer to his parents, who still lived in the Peverell home where he grew up. After spending time in Ivybridge—where he was co-opted onto Ugborough Parish Council—Colin and his family moved to Elburton, an area where his family has long-standing roots.

Colin continues to contribute actively to the community. He serves as Vice-Chair of Governors at Plymouth High School for Girls, sits on the Trust disciplinary panel, and is a member of Plymouth City Council’s Independent School Appeals Panel, handling both infant and junior appeals. Outside his professional work, Colin is also a musician, writer, and active member of the congregation at St Matthew’s Church, Elburton.

Responding to his selection, Colin said:
“I am delighted to have been selected by the Association to stand as your Conservative candidate for Peverell Ward — an area of the city I know personally and care deeply about, having grown up there and still having strong family ties. I look forward to meeting residents and working hard on their behalf.”
